Ohashi

Ohashi is a pioneer in holistic healthcare, introducing his beneficial and unique method of nurturing touch in the 1970s with the founding of the international Ohashi Institute in New York City, a cultural and educational organization. Based on ancient Oriental medical principles of meridian energy manipulation, Ohashi’s modality takes shiatsu (acupressure) to a higher level of well-being. Through his studies in Oriental medicine, Japanese martial arts, human movement and bodywork, Ohashi has developed the best of these disciplines into his unique method.

For over 45 years, Ohashi has developed, practiced and taught OHASHI Method® / Ohashiatsu® throughout the world, training thousands of graduates and certified Ohashiatsu® instructors, especially in the US and Europe. He has lectured at various colleges, medical and chiropractic schools in the United States, including the Harvard Medical School in Boston, and Rockefeller University in New York City.

He is the author of 6 books — many published in foreign languages — including Do-It-Yourself Shiatsu, Zen Shiatsu (with Masunaga), Reading the Body: Ohashi’s Book of Oriental Diagnosis, and Beyond Shiatsu: Ohashi’s Bodywork Method; Natural Childbirth, The Eastern Way, and Touch For Love: Shiatsu for Your Baby. He has also produced 12 educational DVDs.
