Brachial Bother - Anterior Scalene & Bicep Brachii
Module descriptor.
In this presentation we will delve into neck and shoulder issues by addressing each of the two most important muscles in these areas, Anterior Scalene & Bicep Brachii. Understanding the typical dysfunctional patterns in these commonly problematic areas will enable you to quickly, safely and effectively target the cause of these dysfunctions instead of chasing symptoms. We take a detailed approach to assessment, clear and simple treatment techniques to blend with your existing practice and finish with the all important individualised home care to provide real change and lasting results.
Brachial Bother learning objectives:
• Students will be able to assess and differentiate between injury and dysfunction in Anterior Scalene and Biceps muscles.
• Students will be able to identify common chronic pain conditions associated with Anterior Scalene and Biceps dysfunction
• Students will be able to establish through assessment if Anterior Scalene or Biceps are short / tight or over-stretched / weak.
• Students will be able to devise a treatment plan and rehab to address the specific presenting dysfunction in Anterior Scalene and Biceps.
Brachial Bother learning outcomes:
• Students will be able to describe the typical patterns of dysfunction associated with Anterior Scalene and Bicep
•Students will be able to identify the neck and upper extremity conditions that Anterior Scalene and Biceps dysfunction can cause or contribute to.
• Students will be able to identify the upper and lower attachments of Anterior Scalene
• Students will be able to describe a range of assessments for identifying dysfunction or injury in neck and shoulder area
• Students will be able to determine the correct choice of stretching or strength training based on the predictable dysfunctions found in the neck and upper extremity
• Students will be able to list the goals of treatment.

Aubrey is a college director at Holistic College Dublin, and program developer for our cutting edge Sports Massage course and C.P.D. workshops. His 30 years clinical experience and 26 years teaching experience, enables him to bring high standards of professionalism and expertise to each diploma course and seminar. His qualifications include: Diplomas in Holistic Massage, Yoga Teaching, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Healing Therapy, Indian Head Massage, Seated On-Site Massage, Stone Therapy, Pregnancy Massage, Fitness Instruction and Personal training, Therapeutic Massage, Sports Massage levels 3,4 & 5, Orthopaedic Massage, Myoskeletal Therapy, Neuro-Structural Integration and certificates in Delivering Learning and Occupational First Aid. Aubrey has a particular interest in the pain free treatment of over-use, repetitive strain and chronic injuries and details this approach in his book - 'Myoskeletal and Sports Therapy'. In addition to his busy international lecturing schedule, he is also the current President of the Irish Massage Therapists Association. Aubrey is also a registered I.T.E.C instructor, and is on the national register of trainers with FAS/ Enterprise Ireland.

Prenatal (Pregnancy) and Post Partum Massage, Stone Therapy and City & Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Delivering Learning and Occupational First Aid. Alison is also a registered I.T.E.C instructor, and is on the national register of trainers with FAS/ Enterprise Ireland.
